The quiet...
...before the storm!
###
The quiet moment before the wedding ceremony; the thoughts, the prayers, the wishes, the hopes. The future, mirrored. The beauty that comes along with that moment, those moments, cannot be put into words. There are no words, and yet the image says so much. It's an honor to be a part of the prep time before a wedding ceremony. Running between the bride and groom's prep rooms allows for an insider's view to an unspoken and calm excitement. The sense is that there is an undercurrent of anticipation while the busyness of getting ready swirls around them. My feeling? An undeniable bond connecting two people who continued to communicate, through their hearts, amid the excitement.

Photographing a wedding can get chaotic - the schedules, the non-schedules, the impromptu meetings, the misplaced props, and so much more - especially when it’s a destination wedding. I thrive on the impromptu and love to capture the candid, and shooting a destination wedding in Puerto Rico last year awarded that opportunity. While capturing the structured and planned definitely has its place, I love filling in the gaps. There are times in between the shots you should get when the money shots are waiting. They tell the story’s sidebar. They give the bigger picture (no pun intended). They are the glue that holds it all together. Capturing these three from the bridal party post-wedding, quickly became one of my favorite photos I have ever taken. During a few minutes of down time, while the plans for the reception were being discussed, the flower girls and ring bearer leaned on a table and gazed out at the ocean; no direction, no posing, no instructions. The kids were so playful and active before and after this photo was taken, giving us more reason to believe that the emotions and meaning behind the wedding ceremony were setting in. Penny for their thoughts…
